Smoke-rated and fire-rated doors
Smoke-rated and fire-rated doors are intended to prevent the spread of smoke or flames within a
building.
The lock or locking part must reliably ensure that the door remains closed, even in the event of fire.
Emergency exit and panic situations
Emergency exit situations according to
DIN EN 179:2008-04
An emergency exit situation exists when a small group of
people is in danger but, because they are familiar with the
building, a panic situation can be ruled out.
This applies for buildings which are not open to the public, for
example.
Panic situations according to DIN EN 1125:2008-04
A panic situation exists when a large group of people are in
danger and/or are very likely to panic due to the situation
within the room or building (e.g. darkness or heavy smoke).
This applies in theatres or cinemas, for example.
