6.1 Proper use
Opening/Closing/Locking
• It must be possible to open and close the door easily. A protruding latch and/or deadbolt must not
impede the opening of the door.
• The locking elements must always engage freely into the openings in the locking parts.
Improper use
The following examples constitute misuse/improper use of the locking part:
• Foreign objects are inserted into the locking part, its furniture or frame parts (striker/strike locking
plate).
• Changes are made to the locking part or its furniture and frame parts.
• The protruding deadbolt is misused to hold the door open.
• Moving/adjustable parts of the locking part (e.g. deadbolt, latch) or furniture/frame parts are
painted.
• Loads in excess of normal manual force are applied to the handle or operating handle.
• Unsuitable closing devices are used, e.g. those which have the incorrect dimensions or are set
incorrectly.
• The clearance between the door and the frame increases or decreases when the locking part, furniture
parts or frame parts are adjusted, or when the door is lowered.
• A 2-sash door not suitable for the purpose its forced open by the second sash (“inactive sash”).
• Objects are inserted between door sash and door frame when the door is closing.
• The door is opened with both the handle and the key simultaneously.
• The door is carried by the handle or its furniture while being transported.
• Force is applied to the locking part, its furniture or its frame parts.
